Medical Management

At Brain Health Institute, medical management begins with getting the diagnosis right. Many neurological conditions—including migraine, tension-type headache, and other headache disorders—share overlapping symptoms, and an accurate diagnosis is the foundation of effective treatment. Dr. Deena Kuruvilla, a board-certified neurologist and fellowship-trained headache specialist, takes the time to perform a thorough history, neurological examination, and clinical assessment at every new patient visit. This careful, unhurried approach allows us to identify the true source of your symptoms and build a treatment plan designed specifically for you.

Once a diagnosis is established, we develop a personalized medication strategy drawing on the full range of evidence-based options available today. This may include acute treatments to stop attacks when they occur, such as triptans, gepants, and ditans, as well as preventive therapies designed to reduce the frequency and severity of symptoms over time, including CGRP monoclonal antibodies and other modern preventive medications. Because the field of neurology is evolving rapidly, Dr. Kuruvilla stays current with the latest research and emerging therapies, carefully evaluating which new treatments are truly supported by evidence before recommending them to her patients.

Medical management at Brain Health Institute is never one-size-fits-all. We consider your overall health, lifestyle, treatment goals, and preferences when selecting medications, and we monitor your progress closely with timely follow-up visits to adjust your plan as needed. Our biopsychosocial approach means that medications are one part of a larger strategy that may also incorporate interventional procedures, holistic therapies, and lifestyle guidance. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have struggled for years to find a treatment that works, our goal is to help you achieve lasting relief and better brain health.
